My thoughts on upcoming assignments

Hello!!

In today's blog post, I will be writing my opinion on my upcoming assignments and extra credit assignments. To begin I want to say that this module is going to keep me on my toes. I tend to find myself leaving big assignments until the last minute because there are so many things going on in lectures and labs of other modules. I find that this module suits better to me because there are weekly tasks that have to be submitted most days. This kind of system works better because I can find the time to put the effort into my weekly tasks and they are also fun and interesting. The only thing that I am not looking forward to is the reading and writing academic style... I'm just not built for that level of English... but I will try my hardest.

I am very excited to get into the world of gaming this year even though I'm not a massive fan. I think it would be very cool to learn the backgrounds, in and outs of the gaming world. I am yet to do any Unity tutorials but I'm sure it will be fun.

Blog comments: I'm looking forward to reading and commenting on other peoples blogs because I think it will give me an insight into their lives or how they are getting on or feeling about college. By commenting on their blogs it will be a good way of communicating with people I have never talked to before. Feedback is always a good thing and could help you to improve.

Extra credit assignment: I think doing extra credit assignments could boost your grade a lot or just take a lot of pressure off you if you are majorly stuck trying to do tasks or other assignments from other modules. This system can give people a lot of opportunities to learn more and be stress-free while doing it. I would like for extra credit assignments to be in other modules throughout the rest of my modules in college.

Game Brainstorm

Hello and welcome back!! Today I will be brainstorming four game ideas from original games but potentially putting my own twist on them. I have chose four games all which I am familiar with. The games include: Flappy Bird, Mario Kart, Nintendogs and Dr Driving. Flappy Bird Flappy Bird is a mobile or PC game. It is a 2D game where the player controls the yellow bird by tapping on the screen or pressing the space bar. The aim of the game is to beat your high score by flying the bird through the gaps of the green pipes. If the player crashes into the green pipes it is GAME OVER. The original flappy bird game was launched in 2014 and had 50 million downloads by January 2014. The game was taken off all App Stores in May 2014, the original creator made the decision to delete his game as there were too much addiction and frustration playing the game. Flappy bird was trending for some time and a lot of trending stories were people smashing and breaking their phones over this game. Today t...

My thoughts on technology tools and course websites I will be using

Hello again!! In today's blog post I will be writing about technology tools and course websites I will be using throughout this semester. This semester we will be using technology tools such as Blogger, Diigo (bookmarking tool), Pinterest, image editing and graphics creators such as Canvas, Cheezburger and Automotivator. I will also be using Padlet, Unity 3D and WordPress. I haven't heard of all these tools but I am sure I will find out soon. I have only used blogger (obviously) and Pinterest which I love. it is so handy and you can find anything you are looking for on it!! I use Pinterest to look for images for my blog! Our class will be directed by using our class website. the website includes all our weekly tasks and demonstrations which I find extremely helpful. We can also access each other's blogs through links on the website, this will save a lot of time trying to find everyone's blogs and give us all easy access! The class website is the most helpful thing this...

Games MDA

Hello!  In today's blog post, I will be expressing my thoughts and sharing notes about MDA and partially DDE. I've read two articles and watched one video mostly about MDA and some DDE. I read  MDA: A Formal Approach to Game Design and Game Research  by Robin Hunicke, Marc LeBlanc, Robert Zubek and  Design, Dynamics, Experience (DDE)  by Wolfgang walk, Mark Barrett and Daniel Görlich. I also watched  Explaining the MDA Design Framework | Video Game Design  by a YouTube Chanel called 'The Last Bacon'. All three sources were amazing and described the MDA and DDE framework very well.  Today, I have learned that design methodology supports a designer by helping them determine the end result of their game. It will strengthen the iterative processes of developers, scholars and researchers. MDA stands for Mechanics, Dynamics and Aesthetics which are all game elements. The MDA framework is supposed to represent the lens or view of the game fro...
