Feedback Thoughts

Hello again! Today I will be talking about my thoughts on feedback and my thoughts on two articles I have read about feedback. I, personally like the idea of feedback, yes it may be scary sometimes but most of the time there is the feedback it would be constructive criticism. Constructive criticism helps improve ones work and potentially change the way one does their work again. There is a lot to learn from getting feedback and I feel if one gets feedback regularly they can know what level they are on and tweak their work before its too late and have to change it all or get a lower grade. When I look back on my many years of learning I can specifically remember a time where feedback was very positive to me. When I was in transition year we had to do a musical, I am an extremely shy person and had to so singing auditions. I was so nervous the first time I had to do the music audition. My first audition went extremely well and I was given great feedback. I wasn't as nervous on my n...

Game Brainstorm

Hello and welcome back!! Today I will be brainstorming four game ideas from original games but potentially putting my own twist on them. I have chose four games all which I am familiar with. The games include: Flappy Bird, Mario Kart, Nintendogs and Dr Driving. Flappy Bird Flappy Bird is a mobile or PC game. It is a 2D game where the player controls the yellow bird by tapping on the screen or pressing the space bar. The aim of the game is to beat your high score by flying the bird through the gaps of the green pipes. If the player crashes into the green pipes it is GAME OVER. The original flappy bird game was launched in 2014 and had 50 million downloads by January 2014. The game was taken off all App Stores in May 2014, the original creator made the decision to delete his game as there were too much addiction and frustration playing the game. Flappy bird was trending for some time and a lot of trending stories were people smashing and breaking their phones over this game. Today t...

Unity Tutorial 1

Hello! I have finally complete unity tutorial 1!! At first, I thought it would be nearly impossible for me to do and that it would take me forever. After completing all the tutorials I am so proud of myself for enjoying every tutorial and doing everything right. There were a few difficult parts but I played back the video tutorials and I flew through them!  I enjoyed the way everything was built up to a finishing product. Firstly I got to pick my vehicle and obstacle and I decided how far apart the obstacles where. It added some sort of personal touch to the game to say that I have done it. After picking the vehicle and obstacle, I learned: how to move the vehicle, change the speed of the vehicle, how to make the vehicle and obstacles collide, and eventually how to get the camera view to move with the vehicle. The whole experience was incredible. Today I am feeling very accomplished because I never in a million years would have thought I'd be able to make/ half make a game. I...

Tech Tip: Blogger design templates

Hello!!  I decided to chose a new blog design, the design is quite simple so my readers can focus more on my words rather than the site surrounding my words. I used the design template "notable" and customised the colour to blue (my favourite colour). I was unable to change the background image but I prefer my blog sweet and simple. I would highly recommend to anyone reading who has their own blogs, to redesign your blog to suit you and make it more personal so your readers can learn a little bit more about you. Thanks for reading another tech tip!! Student online, going offline <3

Game Design

Hello!! I want to begin by saying wow... I have done it. I read an academic styled paper. I can just about spell the word academic... I have to be brutally honest, I found it extremely difficult to read the paper and it took me forever because I kept needing breaks, but I survived. For some reason, my brain can not take in any information when I am reading long pieces of writing so it takes me longer than the average person to read. It wasn't extremely bad because I got there in the end. Academic writing starts now... What is a game anyway?  Ian Schreiber There are many definitions of what a game is. By reading Ian Schreiber's paper 'what is a game anyway?' it is clear that there are many definitions of what a game is. In Schreiber's paper he talks about distinctions between different games, the importance of vocabulary and game definitions. To begin, Schreiber explains the contrast between game names. Many games are very similar, yet have entirely different names....
