Growth mindset

 Hello!!

In today's blog, I will be talking all about growth mindset. I have heard of the words growth and mindset but never together. I learned all about growth mindset by listening to videos of Carol Dweck talking and preaching all about growth mindset. The videos were very inspiring as she talked about how to teach the younger generation what my generation was never thought! It's okay to make mistakes because that's how you begin to learn. Getting an F on a test shouldn't mean failure. It should just mean that there is room to improve.

The smartest people in the world we not born smart. They learned through life and put time and effort into their studies. A growth mindset can apply to anything! For example, when I first started cooking my dishes weren't entirely nice. I took constructive criticism and critiqued my dishes to improve. Still, now I am learning. People have to try over and over again to get things right.

I would love to learn more about growth mindset this semester because I think I would put more effort into things and if I can't do something I will try harder to do that one thing instead of leaving it and not making it the best it can be. This semester I would like to spend the set amount of time in all modules and make sure to make time to get all my assignments done to my best ability!!

Today I learned many things and already it has expanded my mindset! I am extremely happy that I was introduced to the topic of growth mindset and the amazing speaker Carol Dweck.

Game idea research

Hello everyone!  I have finally decided on a game idea that I want to recreate! It wasn't particularly difficult for me to chose but I knew it would have to be a choice between two games! I wanted to choose between either flappy bird or Nintendogs! I chose... Nintendogs!!! I named my game "Puppy Paws". I chose Nintendogs because I was always interested in the game itself and I thought that it could be a potential challenge to recreate the game. I know, why do I want a challenge when I am already drowning in work that I have barely any time to do? I don't have the answer to that question just yet but let's hope the challenge is worth it! Nintendogs has a lot of elements to it that is impossible for me to create this semester. I plan to take out a lot of difficulty to the game and only focus on the basics but with a twist!   To start, the dog owner (the player)will own a puppy. They must name it and train it! Basic training will have already been complete (learning...

Games MDA

Hello!  In today's blog post, I will be expressing my thoughts and sharing notes about MDA and partially DDE. I've read two articles and watched one video mostly about MDA and some DDE. I read  MDA: A Formal Approach to Game Design and Game Research  by Robin Hunicke, Marc LeBlanc, Robert Zubek and  Design, Dynamics, Experience (DDE)  by Wolfgang walk, Mark Barrett and Daniel Görlich. I also watched  Explaining the MDA Design Framework | Video Game Design  by a YouTube Chanel called 'The Last Bacon'. All three sources were amazing and described the MDA and DDE framework very well.  Today, I have learned that design methodology supports a designer by helping them determine the end result of their game. It will strengthen the iterative processes of developers, scholars and researchers. MDA stands for Mechanics, Dynamics and Aesthetics which are all game elements. The MDA framework is supposed to represent the lens or view of the game fro...

Game Design

Hello!! I want to begin by saying wow... I have done it. I read an academic styled paper. I can just about spell the word academic... I have to be brutally honest, I found it extremely difficult to read the paper and it took me forever because I kept needing breaks, but I survived. For some reason, my brain can not take in any information when I am reading long pieces of writing so it takes me longer than the average person to read. It wasn't extremely bad because I got there in the end. Academic writing starts now... What is a game anyway?  Ian Schreiber There are many definitions of what a game is. By reading Ian Schreiber's paper 'what is a game anyway?' it is clear that there are many definitions of what a game is. In Schreiber's paper he talks about distinctions between different games, the importance of vocabulary and game definitions. To begin, Schreiber explains the contrast between game names. Many games are very similar, yet have entirely different names....
