Growth mindset

 Hello!!

In today's blog, I will be talking all about growth mindset. I have heard of the words growth and mindset but never together. I learned all about growth mindset by listening to videos of Carol Dweck talking and preaching all about growth mindset. The videos were very inspiring as she talked about how to teach the younger generation what my generation was never thought! It's okay to make mistakes because that's how you begin to learn. Getting an F on a test shouldn't mean failure. It should just mean that there is room to improve.

The smartest people in the world we not born smart. They learned through life and put time and effort into their studies. A growth mindset can apply to anything! For example, when I first started cooking my dishes weren't entirely nice. I took constructive criticism and critiqued my dishes to improve. Still, now I am learning. People have to try over and over again to get things right.

I would love to learn more about growth mindset this semester because I think I would put more effort into things and if I can't do something I will try harder to do that one thing instead of leaving it and not making it the best it can be. This semester I would like to spend the set amount of time in all modules and make sure to make time to get all my assignments done to my best ability!!

Today I learned many things and already it has expanded my mindset! I am extremely happy that I was introduced to the topic of growth mindset and the amazing speaker Carol Dweck.

Game idea research

Hello everyone!  I have finally decided on a game idea that I want to recreate! It wasn't particularly difficult for me to chose but I knew it would have to be a choice between two games! I wanted to choose between either flappy bird or Nintendogs! I chose... Nintendogs!!! I named my game "Puppy Paws". I chose Nintendogs because I was always interested in the game itself and I thought that it could be a potential challenge to recreate the game. I know, why do I want a challenge when I am already drowning in work that I have barely any time to do? I don't have the answer to that question just yet but let's hope the challenge is worth it! Nintendogs has a lot of elements to it that is impossible for me to create this semester. I plan to take out a lot of difficulty to the game and only focus on the basics but with a twist!   To start, the dog owner (the player)will own a puppy. They must name it and train it! Basic training will have already been complete (learning...

Feedback Strategies

Hello!  Today I will be talking about different feedback strategies. Last week I spoke about my thoughts on feedback in general but today I will be going into more dept and talk about how I can give feedback to someone else as well as my general thoughts. I have read two articles about feedback:  Try Feedforward Instead of Feedback  by  Marshall Goldsmith and  How to Give Feedback Without Sounding Like a Jerk  by Adam Grant.  The first article I read was  Try feedforward instead of feedback . I found this article very interesting and the title immediately caught my eye. In the article, Goldsmith talks about both the positive and negative sides of feedback. Goldsmith says that feedback can benefit a person but also can focus on the past and what has already occurred. He then suggests using the method of 'feedforward'. This is when a person suggests how to improve in the future and suggests help. I have never heard of feedforward until I read ...

Game Brainstorm

Hello and welcome back!! Today I will be brainstorming four game ideas from original games but potentially putting my own twist on them. I have chose four games all which I am familiar with. The games include: Flappy Bird, Mario Kart, Nintendogs and Dr Driving. Flappy Bird Flappy Bird is a mobile or PC game. It is a 2D game where the player controls the yellow bird by tapping on the screen or pressing the space bar. The aim of the game is to beat your high score by flying the bird through the gaps of the green pipes. If the player crashes into the green pipes it is GAME OVER. The original flappy bird game was launched in 2014 and had 50 million downloads by January 2014. The game was taken off all App Stores in May 2014, the original creator made the decision to delete his game as there were too much addiction and frustration playing the game. Flappy bird was trending for some time and a lot of trending stories were people smashing and breaking their phones over this game. Today t...
